Transfer and Modernization of Minian
Minian Has Moved to the Miniscope Organization
We are excited to announce that the Minian repository has officially been transferred to the Miniscope GitHub organization.
New Minian repository location
First and foremost, we want to thank the original developers and contributors who built and maintained Minian over the years. Specifically Phil Dong and the Cai Lab, Mount Sinai. The package has played an important role in the open-source calcium imaging ecosystem and has been widely adopted across the community. The goal of this transfer is not to fundamentally change what Minian is, but rather to help ensure that it remains maintainable, modernized, and actively supported moving forward.
Immediate Goals
Our initial focus will be on:
- Addressing long-standing issues and pull requests
- Improving installation and dependency management
- Modernizing parts of the codebase where appropriate
- Establishing clearer contribution and maintenance workflows
- Improving long-term sustainability of the project
Community Contributions
Community contributions remain critically important. More information can be found in our guide: The hows and whys of submitting an issue.
If you currently use Minian, we encourage you to:
- Submit bug reports
- Help test updates and fixes
- Contribute documentation improvements
- Participate in discussions
- Submit pull requests where appropriate
We hope this transition will help strengthen the long-term sustainability of Minian and better integrate it with the broader open-source Miniscope ecosystem.
Transition Notes
Over the coming weeks and months, there may be infrastructure updates, repository reorganizations, and documentation changes as we continue modernizing the project.
We will do our best to communicate changes clearly and maintain compatibility whenever possible.
