Hello Everyone,

I just setup a signup sheet for our 4th Miniscope Group PCB Order. Ordering as a group decreases per board costs which is significant when ordering only a few PCBs. Expect the DAQ PCB to run about $200 a board and the CMOS Imaging Sensor PCB to run about $120 a board. The company making the PCBs in located in California but can ship internationally. If you are interested please reply below and also add your information here.

Hi, thanks for organizing another order! I added our information to the google doc.

Hi, Daniel. I write on behalf of 3/4 labs in Argentina interested in your miniscope. For the time being we would like to start building one and see how it goes. Just to be sure, does this cover all the printed electronics? 1 piece of each would be ok to start? As soon as I get your answer I will add the info in the google doc.

Are you thinking of any similar initiative to get GRIN lenses? Grintech has not answered so far. Thanks!

Hi Kropff,

  • This group order covers the 2 main PCBs needed to build a Miniscope system. You would also need to order Excitation LED PCBs. I would also recommend purchasing some Coax to SMA PCBs to make connectorizing the coaxial cable that runs between the head mounted scope and DAQ PCB easier. The Excitation LED PCB and Coax to SMA PCB are just bare boards which you will solder yourselves (look at the Part Procurement and System Aseembly pages for more info).
  • The reason I am helping set up group orders for the DAQ PCB and CMOS PCB is because these boards are pretty expensive when ordered in smaller quantities and require third party assembly. The other PCBs are very cheap even at smaller quantities.
  • Generally we build 3 to 8 scope bodies+CMOS PCBs for each DAQ PCB but to start out 1 of each would be enough for one basic system.
  • We are pursuing multiple options for sourcing GRIN lenses but do not have anything finalized yet. In the mean time I would suggest directly contacting Inscopix and requesting a price quote. If you do not hear back from them, which is likely, maybe try getting a response over social media (facebook and twitter).

Hi Daniel, thanks for organizing a new group order! I attached our information to the google spreadsheet. I guess we send the CMOS sensors to the company after the order is placed?

I think Sierra Circuits can now source the CMOS sensor as well so no need to order it yourself. Thanks

Hi Daniel, thank you for assisting with this! I've added our information to the google doc.

Hi Daniel,

We would also like to take part in this group order. Thank you very much for setting this up! Is it possible to still get them without the sensor mounted?

Hi Lukas,

The CMOS PCBs for this group order are for the 0.3 megapixel MT9V032 imaging sensor. Is this what you want (it is not compatible with the MT9M001)? I am pretty sure we can ask to get your portions of the CMOS PCBs to not have the sensor mounted.

By the way, the DAQ PCBs will work with the MT9M001 imaging sensor PCBs we sent you.

Hi,

The Kepecs lab would like to take part in the group buy. Once we put our info down on the google spreadsheet how do we pay?

Is there a large quote generated and then do individual labs pay Sierra Circuits directly after receiving the quote reference (and for the fraction of boards for which they signed up)???

Thanks, Fitz Sturgill

Hi Fitz,

In a week or two I will finalize the requested quantities with all members of the group order and then get a price quote from Sierra Circuits. This price quote will be for the total quantity requested by the entire group. I will then send the quote to each member of group and then each member is responsible for contacting Justin from Sierra Circuits to submit their portion of the order. You should be able to order these PCBs the same way you order anything else for your lab.
