As far as I can tell your parts list gives all the details we need except for GRIN lenses. I understand there can be difficulty with specifying everything necessary to get the lenses needed. But can you give more information about the exact dimensions we should be aiming for to fit your housing? I know the following: GRIN lenses with a 4th order index of refraction profile, 0.25 pitch. 2um wide? What length fits the housing snugly? What do you most commonly use? Thanks Brendon Watson

Hi Mkislin,

GoFoton is sending us some new lenses to test this week and we are actively working with them to produce high quality imaging lenses. While we are making a lot of progress it is hard to give a timeline as to when they will have lenses available. Altechna uses a manufacturer in China to produce their lenses. We weren't making much progress with them so we decided to focus most of our effects on working with GoFoton. People do use the currently available lenses from GoFoton (such as Doric) for imaging. We have used them in the past and you definitely can see cells, just a lot fewer than what you get with Grintech lenses.

I do not know the exact specs of the optics in Doric's Snap-in Imaging Model S so I can't say for sure if their lenses will work in our system but I would make an educated guess that they would not.

The lenses from Lightpath will also not work in our system for a couple reasons but mainly because they are quite large.

Hi all,

I have some questions regarding the working distance (WD) and the focal plane of the Grin lenses. I have read the Grintech datasheet and it says that the GT-IFRL-200-inf-50-NC lenses have a infinity WD, while for example the GT-IFRL-200-005-50-NC is 5mm. However you say the WD you are using is from 0 to 0.2mm, is it because the longer the WD the higher the scattering and the lower the image quality? if this is the case, why don't you use a lens with a lower WD?

Also when using a 0.25 pitch grin lens, all the rays come out from the lens parallel and the achromatic lens create the image in the sensor. How does the sliding the sensor up and down shift the focal plane, is not the focal plane determined by the WD of the grin lens??
