In your experience, what is the advantage of doing 2 separate surgeries, one for injection and one for GRIN lens implantation? Since you need to wait ~3 weeks for the virus expression and ~3 weeks for the reduction of the inflammation, it seems in terms of timeline the two steps could be combined. Does the combination of both procedures in one step have any negative effect on virus expression?

You can absolutely do them together, but in our experience we get slightly less virus expression when we do them together. We generally find the surgeries easier when broken up so that's what we usually do.
