Surgery and Baseplating / Surgery for two lenses system
« on: June 01, 2017, 12:37:43 AM »
Hi everyone,

I have a question about two lenses system.
now my lab try to see deep brain region, so we will order 0.6mm(diameter) X 7.3mm(length) lens from inscopix.

I didn't do any surgery with thin lens, But I cannot imagine that no-gap between objective lens of my miniscope and thin lens.

Is there any tips or caution for this surgery?

Hi Alec,

Did you buy 0.5mm GRIN lens for deep brain region from Go!foton?
I contacted Go!foton yesterday, and they said 0.5mm lens was under test in UCLA.

Hi Daniel!

I found the problem.
I don't know why, but length of my coax cable was problem.
When I make it short(2m->1m) my miniscopes work.

Thank you for your consideration

Thank you Daniel.

According your advise, i measured current through the LED and it was 0.6mA
Is that mean that LED was damaged?
But when I tried to measure resistance of LED with multimeter, LED was shine brightly.
And when i connect cmos to DAQ, LED really shiny first but immediately be weak. Is this phenomenon is usual?

How about problem of LED pcb?

Actually I bought LED and SMA pcb from local fabrication company and all of LED have problem.

+
by the way, "placing a multimeter in parallel with LED" is right connection for measure current? not series connection?

Hi
I have questions about LED power.

My labs miniscopes have low LED power and I want to know the voltage of LED.
(Light intensity at the end of 2mm-diameter GRIN lens is 0.05mW)

How can I measure the voltage of LED? I want to know the right way.

I tried to measure voltage on SMA pcb between inner and outer soldering part and it was 4.9V
and I also measured on LED pcb between + and - pannel and it was 2.45V

I saw somewhere(in discussion board) that LED voltage must be upper than 5V

1) Where should I to check the LED voltage?

and 2) How I can improve it?
We just order DC adaptor, but this adaptor cannot turn on the DAQ pcb. it is 24V 5A adaptor and I don't know why it was happened.

There is no one who can advise these simple problems.. please help!

Thank you Daniel. I just understand your answer. We have to buy another lens.

Surgery and Baseplating / how to remove Blood Clot?
« on: January 16, 2017, 08:51:21 AM »
Hello everyone
I have question about blood clots.

Are blood clots removed automatically as time passes?

I tried to see through miniscope at next day of the lens implant surgery, and because of blood clot, I can't see anything.
If i treated dexamethasone 7days, would the view be cleared? or there is only answer that i have to beware of clots in surgery step?

anyone who has information about removing blood clot, please answer this question. Many thanks!

Hi Daniel! I have a question for your answer.

I have 1mm diameter GRIN lens with attached prism for perpendicular view. Its working distance is infinite and 0.25pitch.
I checked it can make image without lens. Because of prism, it's hard to see fluorescent samples with lens so i couldn't check it. i just confirm that optic path is fine.
And if I put lens and miniscope on a head of mouse, it shows nothing.

Do you think that prism is a cause of this problem?
But at fact sheet, the GRIN lens has infinite working distance so i think those prism is not affect on focal length.
Is there any specific formula to calculate working distance of achromatic lens+GRIN lens?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found there was a blood clot. But i am still concerned about my lens system.

Thank you Daniel!

Actually soldering problem was on coax cable soldering part of CMOS pcb.
We just fixed it and my miniscope can work now. But next time, I try to solder on middle pad of J6 as you say. Thankyou!

System Assembly Troubleshooting / connection between CMOS pcb and DAQ pcb
« on: January 03, 2017, 06:48:54 AM »
Hi my name is Hyeonju Lee.
I have two questions.
1. I have a v2.01 DAQ pcbs and is it fine that i connect my CMOS-SMA jack onto J4 of DAQ pcb? What is the meaning of J4 J5 J3?

2. if i have to solder coax cable on the pad, is there any problem to solder inner conductor of coax cable to middle pad of J6? It is hard to solder it on small capacitor(C21)

i have some solder problem and that makes unstable third LED lighting.

DAQ Software/Firmware / msCam frame grab error, only Two LEDs on
« on: October 02, 2016, 07:04:33 AM »
Hi, my name is Hyeonju Lee.

When I connect my miniscope to computer ssUSB3.0 port, only two LEDs(DAQ&miniscope LED) turn on.
and then I press "connect" button on the DAQ software, it shows "msCam frame grab error" and Data link LED still turned off.
I've tried to connect with another computer, then it connect to my webcam. When I turned off my webcam and then it shows "msCam retreival error" and also Data link LED turned off.

What do those errors mean and how I can solve it?
If there anyone who solved this kind of problems?
Please help :'(
