Group Miniscope Orders / Re: New Miniscope PCB Group Signup Sheet
« on: September 18, 2017, 09:33:45 PM »
Hi, just to clarify a couple things, where, one, there is now one sheet and not a new sheet per order, and two that this is the most up to date sheet (as of 9/18/17). Estimated order date is 1 month for every 20 people on the list.
Thanks for clearing this confusion.

Miniscope.org Suggestions / Area for publications
« on: July 19, 2017, 10:36:30 PM »
It may be worthwhile to have an area of the wiki for a list of publications. Maybe a section for those that have used the miniscope technology, and a section for related papers.

Surgery and Baseplating / Re: Sterilization of lenses

We let our lens soak in isopropyl for about a minute, then let the alcohol evaporate away. Open to other suggestions though.

I can attest to the Kimwipe's. If I absolutely have to touch the lenses, I cut small squares of Kimwipe, dip them in alcohol, and use forceps to gently clean the lenses.

Data Analysis / Sample Workshop data stats
« on: February 28, 2017, 05:34:39 PM »
Hello, is there a document that lists the ideal stats for the workshop sample data on drive? It would be good to know how close the software is running to optimal. I'm only getting about 100 cells and I wasn't sure if that was a function of software parameters or if that's all the data provides.
Thanks as always!

Optics / Calibration Slides
« on: February 09, 2017, 08:47:43 PM »
Can anyone offer some insights on which model of calibration slide they use, I've heard of some differences between them, and that the link on the miniscope page links to a large selection from Thor.
I was thinking about the High-Frequency NBS 1963A Resolution Test Targets, 2" x 2" ; here: https://www.thorlabs.us/thorproduct.cfm?partnumber=R2L2S1P1

Any cheaper alternatives?
Thanks

Data Analysis / Re: Memory error after auto segmentation
« on: January 26, 2017, 08:55:42 PM »
The computer I first ran it on was 8Gb, I set it up on the 32Gb rig which should have no problem. Any thoughts on running it with access to a smaller memory size if needed for whatever reason?

I ran it with 5 and it's still too large, what do you think the lower bounds would be for data retention?

Data Analysis / Memory error after auto segmentation
« on: January 19, 2017, 09:32:23 PM »
So running the code on the test data set (H15_M18_S6) from the google drive, and ran it without error until autosegment2, where I received the error below:

Requested 459x732x5392 (13.5GB) array exceeds maximum array size preference.

it seems fairly self explanatory, except I cannot figure out which array it is referring to. I'm guessing that during the memory allocation phase, it is the "data" on line 56:

data =
uint8(nan(vidObj.alignedHeight(vidObj.selectedAlignment),vidObj.alignedWidth(vidObj.selectedAlignment),numFramesDown));

Any ideas on what's tricking the memory allocation so the file can fit into memory? or maybe minimum memory requirements? I don't need to use the batch analysis on the dataset above do I?.

Thanks!

System Assembly Troubleshooting / Shorted DAQ bored
« on: December 14, 2016, 10:35:38 PM »
Upon adding power to our miniscope setup (scope, bored computer all connected), we saw smoke coming from the DAQ board. We think it came from L13, which I believe is a power inductor.
The coax tested positive for shorts, so lesson learned on that one, we probably burned through the shelling when soldering.
Just thought I'd let everyone know to be on the lookout so you don't risk a fried board!
