Title: framerate below 5 fps
Post by: ivo.sonntag on April 06, 2017, 05:13:46 PM
Hi Daniel,
the miniscopes are doing an amazing job. Thank you very much for sharing this resource!
We wondered if it is possible to acquire images at frame rates below 5Hz?

Best,
Ivo

Hi Ivo,
Thanks! If I remember correctly we can get the frame rate down to around 2FPS. 2FPS is currently not supported in the DAQ firmware but would be pretty easy to add. The reason why it is currently limited to 5FPS is, even at that frame rate, the motion of the brain starts to introduce blurring in individual frames. If you plan to head fix this is less of an issue.

I can add a 2FPS option when I have time. Why are you interested in such a low frame rate?

Hi Daniel,
I see your point. We'll stick to 5 fps or higher then.
The idea is to look at astrocyte calcium dynamics, which are very slow.
Hence we figured we could cut on the amount of data produced by lowering the framerate further.

Best,
Ivo
